Book Synopsis The Jeter Mosaic: Seven centuries in the history of a family by : Grata Jeter Clark
Book excerpt: The earliest ancestor of this family was John Jeter, who lived in Essex County (now Caroline), Virginia in 1704. Most of his earlier descen- dants were tobacco planters with large plantations and slaves as the major source of labor. Many descendants remained in Virginia while others began migrating southward to the Carolinas, Tennessee, Kentuc- ky, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, California and elsewhere.
