Book excerpt: Chapter 3 describes the synthesis of novel low band gap conjugated thienodipyrrole squarine dye. Structural identification and characterization procedures are described. This donor-acceptor polymer had a low band gap and can be used in bulk heterojunction solar cells. Chapter 4 describes the synthesis of polyisoprene-b- polystyrene- b- poly(3-hexylthiophene) triblock copolymer by anionic coupling of living polyisoprene-b- polystyryl lithium with allyl-terminated poly(3-hexylthiophene). The opto-electronic properties and the morphology of the triblock copolymer are discussed in this chapter. The triblock copolymer has good opto-electronic properties and displayed nanofibrillar morphology.
