Book Synopsis Soft X-ray Microscopy - Physical Basis and Recent Developments by : Janos Kirz
Book excerpt: The physics of the interaction of soft x-ray with materials gives raise to interesting contrast mechanisms. these can be exploited in microscopies sensitives to elemental and chemical distributions within specimens. Between the carbon and oxygen K absorption edges, wet specimens several microns thick are imaged at 50mm resolution. We review the various types of sofy x-ray microscope with special emphasis on the scanning microscopes in operation at the National Synchrotron Light Source.
