Book excerpt: Reports on part of a study of skills-training innovations being developed by industry and government in the plastics processing industry in Canada. There is pressure on the government to reorganize educational and training institutions to meet the needs of industry. Ten managers of 10 companies concerned with skills-training needs, the production process, and conditions of capital accumulation combine to create pressures to change educational institutions. These pressures emerge from: expansion of mass production; hi-tech and rates of capital utilization; time and capital utilization; and entrepreneurial management.
