Book excerpt: Current guidelines for overpressure protection requirements do not refer to a particular nuclear system design and for CANDU reactors there are no specific regulations. This document clarifies and extends guidance given in the AECB's Regulatory Document R-10. Since a shutdown is an integrated procedure, this document outlines the role of each of the shutdown systems, and reviews the situation of power-actuated relief valves, the limit of regulations to primary heat transport systems (and not in a zero power reactor situation), and allowable service conditions.
