Book excerpt: From 1860 to 1960 was called a "golden era" for enamel jewelry. Scandinavian enamel had extremely high technical and artistic quality. From the late 1800's, enamel art became one of the most prestigious fields of art in Norway, and by 1904, at the World's Fair, Norway received awards in enameling surpassing their Russian counterparts. However, there was almost no information published about these artisans and the little other information remains outside of museum archives, family or genealogical records. Each chapter of the 38 artisan's workshops in our book contains a brief history of the artisan, their photograph, a selection of about 30 photographs of their enamel work and the Maker Mark used to sign their pieces.
