Book excerpt: About the book: Capital Market is a part of a greater system known as Financial System. The financial system of a country aims at transferring the surplus money from one sector of the economy to the deficit sector of the same or different economy. Capital Market is an organised market dealing with financial assets which have a long or indefinite maturity period. In general, it consists of those assets which have a maturity period of more than one year. Indian Capital Market is a heterogeneous combination of Primary Market and Secondary Market. With the economic liberalization in 1991, the Indian financial system has undergone radical changes from 1992-93.
