Book excerpt: Excerpt from Annual Report of the American Historical Association for the Year 1892 B. Of of relating to America, found by Prof. James E. Thorold Rogers in the Bodleian Library at Oxford, and by him obtained for the American Historical Association. The American Historical Association was organized at Sara toga, N. Y., September 10, 1884. It was incorporated by act of Congress, approved January 4, 1889, for the promotion of historical studies, the collection and preservation of historical manuscripts, and for kindred purposes in the interest of Amer ican history and of history in America. Since its foundation the Historical Association has published five volumes of Papers through G. P. Putnam's Sons, or the Knickerbocker Press, New York and London, 1885 - 1891. Through the Smith sonian Institution it has published three Annual Reports, for the years 1889, 1890, and 1891. All future publications of the society will be issued from the Government Printing Office in Washington. The first series, published by the Putnams, has been discontinued.
