Book excerpt: 2. Some aspects of Japanese experience in industrial pollution control. The following case studies were conducted in order to analyze policies promoting industrial pollution control and functions of corporate behavior: Analysis of the costs of pollution control measures, particularly cases related to sulfur dioxide (SOx) pollution control; analysis of impacts of utility prices related to industrial water supply, wastewater, and energy; analysis of relationships between regulations and the market, referring to cases in industrial waste management; analysis of relationships between corporate behavior (especially productivity) and industrial pollution control measures.
