Book Synopsis High Temperature Oxidative Degradation Investigations of Liquid Lubricants by : Carl E Snyder (Jr)
Book excerpt: This report covers work being done on the development liquid lubricants for use in advanced aerospace applications. A mechanism for the high-temperature oxidative degradation for a substituted aryl-ester p-(p-t-gutylphenoxy)phenylneoheptanoate is presented. Attempts to obtain quantitative data on the rate of formation of degradation products were unsuccessful due to non-reproducibility of data obtained from 500 F oxidations. Tentative explanations for this non-reproducibility are presented. (Author).
