Book excerpt: John William Swiger, his wife, Mary, and probably their oldest son, Christopher, emigrated from Germany, ca. 1755 and settled in first Loudoun County, Virginia. They had five other children born in Virginia and one born in Pennsylvania. After John William's death, Mary Swiger married Joshua Barnes Allen. The family then migrated to land in what is now Barbour County, West Virginia. Descendants lived in West Virginia and elsewhere.
