Book excerpt: Gabriel Purdy (1754-1841) of the 5th generation was the son of Samuel of the 4th generation. He married five wives: (1) Charity Purdy, (2) Esther Angevine, (3) Elizabeth Richardson, (4) Esther Knight and (5) Ann Aitkins. He was the father of between fourteen and seventeen children. He joined the British at the time of the Battle of White Plains. He left for Nova Scotia, Canada in 1783. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given.
