Book Synopsis Detection and Quantification of Genes Responsible for Toxin Biosynthesis in Cyanobacteria from Drinking Water Supplies by : Wenyu Zhang
Book excerpt: Late August 2008 a blue green algal bloom broke out at Warragamba Dam, Sydney and cyanobacterial toxins were detected in Wingecaribee water sources. Raw water samples have been continuously analyzed for presence of hepatotoxic peptide microcystin. The aim of this project is to quantify the amount of the 16S rRNA genes and mcyB genes from water samples using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR).
