Book excerpt: This is a memoir about a young woman facing struggles with everyday life after growing up with parents that were addicts and siblings taught that violence was necessary and screaming was communication. She went on to seek out help after an internal struggle with seeking help because it appeared as weakness as her alcoholic father had repeatedly told her.
