Book Synopsis Comparative Study of Decentralization and Participatory Education in North Dakota and the Republic of Ghana by : Jacob Manu
Book excerpt: The purpose of this research was to examine the extent to which decisions are decentralized, or participatory decision making was encouraged, in both the Republic of Ghana and the State of North Dakota. Results indicated that in both states different groups of people are involved in decision making and that decision making is dominated by administrators, teachers and parents. In North Dakota decisions about curriculum and textbooks are made by administrators and teachers, whereas in Ghana such decisions are made by the Curriculum Research and Development Division, a government agency.
