THIS SYSTEM CONSISTS OF AN X-RAY GENERATING UNIT AND AN X-RAY SENSITIVE VIDICON CAMERA CLOSED-CIRCUIT VIDEO SYSTEM CONTAINED WITHIN A SHIELDED TEST CHAMBER THAT IS FULLY DESCRIBED. A SPECIAL X-RAY TELEVISION CAMERA EMPLOYING A SENSITIVE PBO SIGNAL PLATE IS USED IN PLACE OF CONVENTIONAL FILM RADIOGRAPHY. THE X-RAY UNIT A NEW CONSTANT POTENTIAL 260KV X-RAY TUBE WITH BOTH A BERYLLIUM WINDOW AND A 0.5 MM2 FOCAL SPOT SIZE FOR OBTAINING AN INTENSE, HIGH RESOLUTION X-RAY BEAM. THE 14-IN. (35.56 CM) CLOSED-CIRCUIT TV MONITOR WITH A MAGNIFICATION FACTOR OF 24X FACILITATES OPERATOR VIEWING AT SCAN RATES UP TO 12 IN. (30.4 CM)/MINUTE. PRECISE DIMENSIONAL MEASUREMENTS OF FUEL PIN LENGTH AND PELLET-TO-PELLET INTERSPACE CAN BE OBTAINED WITH AN ACCURACY OF PLUS OR MINUS 0.001 IN. (0.025 MM). (MODIFIED).
